So here comes my contribution to the Lucky Day manga by Inu. Translation is done by Raze from Fakku and editing is done by me. Story is about Also, I would like to take a moment to say that on this day, exactly one year ago, I signed up to blogger thinking, "pfft, I'll probably forget about it within a week". Now with the site reaching past 500,000 hits, a few stalled projects finally getting moved up to completed status, new projects being worked on and joint projects with other groups, it's a wonder why I thought I wanted to stick with Freewebs and not sign up here earlier.
So thanks to everyone for coming here and happy first birthday to the 4dawgz blog. Now for mandatory cake picture.

Congrats on the year, man.
You really should ask if you can distribute your own copy, unless fakku stopped their practice of recompressing everything including downloads. I rather hate finding compression artifacts when dealing with an editor who I know knows better than to overcompress.
Gratz on the year, been watching the blog the whole time. It's funny how you having this blog is one of the many factors that helped me be less dependent on 4chan. I used to check /h/ daily to see if you had posted anything.

Are there plans to release a collected version of Lucky Day, perhaps without the Fakku watermark on every single page? m(-_-)m
IMO watermarking more than two/three pages isn't an especially smart course of action, because:
- it risks annoying readers; in my case, everything that's overly watermarked goes right at the bottom of my reading list (now running in the tens of gigabytes).
- it's overkill; people planning to republish a story on other sites aren't going to just rip the unmarked pages, after all...
- it actually helps removing the watermark; as soon a it's planted on a white background, it's trivial to sample it and subtract it from the other pictures.
Sorry for the long post. I know it isn't the right place to voice my opinion on this subject, but I've done so in the hope that you can mention the matter to Raze, if you find some of my arguments convincing.
When they discussed watermarks at Fakku the decision was taken before I had a chance to register; and even then, a newbie's arguments would've carried zero weight, probably...

It's also like saying that the fact that you edited/translated/distributed it is more important than the art itself, which doesn't occur to most people who use watermarks.

You're correct that it's really not the place, but all of your points are easily countered as well.
It might "risk" annoying readers, but only petty ones. When the vote was taken, the USERS voted overwhelmingly in favor of keeping them. Most of them never even noticed them, and those who did notice them explicitly stated that they looked upon them as a "seal of quality". The Fakku watermarks are perhaps the most unobtrusive I've ever seen. Compare them with something like Hentaikey and you'll begin to understand just how innocent they are.
People can and DO rip credits pages from republished releases.

No, it's not. That's a patently ridiculous claim. Perhaps if they were going in and writing LOL FAKKU in crayon on the original doujinshi, that might be considered a sign of disrespect. But by your very own misguided logic, isn't the very act of editing the artwork to accommodate the translation an act of desecration? If the artwork is all you care about, why are you even reading translated doujinshi in the first place?
Believe it or not, it takes effort to produce a translation, and that effort should be recognized. Nobody has ever suggested that the translator/editor's work is more important than the artist's, but that doesn't completely discount the legitimacy OF their efforts.
Like it or not, Fakku is the one that does the vast majority of the translating and work. I'm just the guy who basically puts the text in the speech bubble and just sends it away to the people to do the hosting on their site and other stuff.
While in my opinion, it would be nice to have ONE page such as the front chapter page containing all the main info, the current watermark doesn't really bother me.
There is a time and a place for discussions about watermarks in hentai but I really doubt discussing it here would change the world but you're welcome to try. The only thing I ask is that you keep it all civilised and polite and not turn it into an open out bitchfest. For those that still want to voice their opinions, there is a contact list on their site to the people I talk to since trying to persuade me is a little pointless because I really only work with Fakku on rare ocassions.
